ICE GP Download Button

Following extensive development, testing and collaborative working, we are pleased to announce that the ICE GP Download Button will be live from 28 July 2026.

This has been a highly requested feature, and we are delighted to make it available to general practice.

Testing has been successful across the majority of practices. However, there may be a small number of surgeries that experience issues following go-live. We will continue to monitor the rollout closely and work with practices to resolve any issues as quickly as possible.

What is the ICE GP Download Button?: The ICE GP Download Button enables practice staff to securely transfer results from ICE directly into their GP clinical system via the NHS MESH (Message Exchange for Social Care and Health) service.

This functionality supports a more streamlined workflow by allowing hospital results to be incorporated into the patient’s GP record without the need for manual intervention. This helps to reduce administrative effort, improve record completeness and support timely clinical review.

How do I access the Download Button? Please refer to: GP ICE Download User Guide

Important Information for Practices

SystmOne Practices: As the requesting organisation is not the GP practice, downloaded results should be received into the clinical system as unassigned results. Practices should follow their local Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for reviewing, processing and filing these results.

Potential known issues:

  1. Results do not transfer.
  2. Results transfer successfully but appear in a generic mailbox rather than a specific GP’s workflow.

EMIS Practices: A configuration change may be required within EMIS before the ICE GP Download Button can be utilised.

If you are unable to download results using the button, please contact the LHIS Service Desk, who will be able to provide support and arrange any necessary configuration changes.
