GP Self-Nomination Application: LLR LMC Board – Electoral Term (2026 -2030)

Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Local Medical Committee governing body (Board) will be soon coming to the end of its 4-year electoral term. We are looking for committed and motivated GPs who have a natural interest to play an active part in supporting colleagues in general practice.

The LMC governing body elects half the board 2 years, rather than the whole board every 4 years. Once elected each GP board member will serve a 4 year term.

The Constitution of the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Local Medical Committee (LLR LMC) sets out the number of Committee members who may be elected to its Governing Body.

The Committee shall consist of no less than 11 elected members, and half of the current governing body seats are up for renewal (6 seats).

In order to comply with the LLR LMC constitution, the governing board is seeking to elect the following categories from the vacant seats:

  • 3 contractor GPs (*Levy paying GP member & named on the GMS, PMS or APMS contract)
  • 1 newly qualified GP (first 5 years of completing CCT)
  • 1 GP who works in a Leicester City Practice
  • 2 GPs who work in a Leicestershire County Practice
  • 1 GP who works in a Rutland Practice

Please note that an elected member may fulfil more than one role – eg one elected GP may work in a Leicestershire County Practice, may also be a contractor, and may also be within 5 years of completing CCT.

All GPs in a substantive post working in a levy paying practice in Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland that are on the performers list are eligible to put forward a self-nomination application.
