Top tips on signing up to our new CQC provider portal

Practices are required to register to the new CQC provider portal

For practices who have experienced any difficulties in signing up, CQC have shared some top tips to get the best sign up experience:

  1. To use the new portal you'll need to create a new account. Even if you had an account on our old provider portal
  2. It's currently taking longer than expected for verification codes to be received during the sign up process. This may take up to two hours at present but we are working hard to speed this process up
  3. It's important that the email address associated with your registration is a unique one (more information below). However some providers are incorrectly receiving this error message "Email Address held by Multiple roles". If you think you've incorrectly received this please contact providerportalqueries@cqc.org.uk
  4. Anyone with an email address associated with their CQC registration can sign up to the portal. In future there will be functionality for you to delegate access to others in your organisation

The provider portal offers an easier and faster way to submit notifications for many providers. But if it's more convenient you can continue to email us completed notification forms.

What you'll be able to use the new provider portal for

From today you'll be able to submit the following notifications through the new provider portal:

Coming soon:

  • You'll be able to delegate access to other people in your organisation
  • You'll be able to undertake more registration activities

Use the right email address when signing up to the new provider portal

It's important that registered managers in the same provider don't use a shared email address to create their provider portal account.

Previously, we allowed people to use shared email addresses for portal user accounts. To increase security for all users and to maintain confidentiality, we can no longer allow this. Each user must use a unique email address on our new provider portal.

New provide portal accounts will synchronise with our registration data. Because of this, emails such as info@carehome.com, utilised by multiple registered managers at a provider will now be restricted to one user on the portal. This adjustment ensures that each user has a unique login credential, enhancing security and accountability within the CQC's systems.

Registered managers currently sharing an email address should change to a unique email address and notify us as soon as possible. To update us you will need to submit a Changes to registered details: change contact details – notification form

Our existing portal is moving to read-only

From 10:30 today our existing provider portal will become read-only. That means you won't be able to use the portal to make changes or send us new information. You will still be able to access and download your saved data until the end of March 2024.

Visit the existing provider portal to download your saved data
