Meet the team
Dr Nainesh Chotai has been an LMC member for 19 years. He is a GP partner, GP trainer, and practice representative to locality meetings with his Clinical Commissioning Group.
Dr Chotai was elected as Chair in October 2016 and will undertake this position until the next elections in 2018.
Dr Ammar Ghouri qualified in 2013 and is currently a GP Principal at South Wigston Health Centre. During the period of June - October 2016, he took on the role of Inteim Chair following being the standing Vice-Chair of the Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland Local Medical Committee.
In November 2016, Dr Ghouri was elected vice-chair (job share) with Dr Makda.
Dr Shiraz Makda graduated in 2008 from Leicester Medical School, completed VTS locally, was elected as AiT representative RCGP Leicester Faculty and is currently First 5 lead.
In November 2016, Dr Makda was elected vice-chair (job share) with Dr Ghouri.
Dr Hisham Haq is a full time GP partner In Leicester. He has been an LMC Committee member since 2010. Dr Haq is the Treasurer for the LMC.
Dr Anu Rao is Medical Officer for the Leicester Leicestershire and Rutland Local Medical Committee. She trained as a GP in Hinckley. She is a GP Partner at Forest House Surgery, Shepshed, and is also a GP trainer, and federation chair for North Charnwood.

Emma Sutherland joined the LMC in 2018 as an administrator. Prior to this she worked at a GP practice in Leicester as a receptionist/administrator which gave her great insight into the inner workings of General Practice.
Charlotte Woods joined the LMC team in 2014, originally as an admin assistant before progressing to the role of Office Manager. Prior to working at the LMC, Charlotte had a variety of successful roles within organisations including Arts Council England, Nottinghamshire Police and University of Leicester.
Dr Binita Parmar works as a freelance GP, mainly in inner city practices. She has recently been appointed a GP Specialist Advisor to the Care Quality Commission. She was co-opted onto the LMC Committee in October 2015, and represents all locum/sessional/freelance GPs, who form an important part of the LLR GP workforce.
Dr Fahad Rizvi completed basic medical education in 2002, and after working in secondary care for 9 years, transferred into GP training and became a GP Principal in 2014. He enjoys GP teaching and his specialist interests are urology, musculo-skeletal and minor surgery. Dr Rizvi was co-opted onto the Committee in October 2015.
Dr Sumit Virmani has been a GP partner in Whitwick since 2009, when he finished his vocational training. Dr Virmani is also a GP appraiser and the Vice-Chair for North West Leicestershire federation. He has a special interest and joints, minor surgery and occupational health.
He enjoys music and cricket.
Dr Vikram Bolarum is a GP Partner at The Burbage Surgery in Hinckley. He has been a GP trainer for the last nine years and has been involved with the undergraduate teaching for the Leicester medical students. Dr Bolarum was co-opted onto the LMC board in March 2018, he will be be a representative of the West area of Leicestershire.
Dr Bolarum also sits on both local and fellowship committee of the RCGP.
Dr Fahreen Dhanji has been a GP partner at Latham House Medical Practice in Melton having worked there since 2009 after completing her VTS training. She is currently a GP trainer and has a specialist interest in ENT and minor surgery.
Dr Dhanji joined LLR LMC Board after she was co-opted onto the board at the August 2016 board meeting.
