Self-referring to NHS services in LLR

Residents in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) are being reminded that they can refer themselves to a range of  physical and mental health NHS services, without seeing a clinician first.

Self-referral provides patients with more choice in how and where they access care, whilst freeing up GP appointments for patients with more urgent health needs. These services can be accessed by patients, parents and carers without a referral from a GP.

Self-referral services in LLR include:

  • Physiotherapy
  • Podiatry
  • Audiology
  • Mental Health
  • Diabetes Prevention
  • Weight Management
  • Stop smoking
  • Active Together

In addition to this, under the Pharmacy First scheme, many pharmacies can also offer treatment and prescription medicine for some conditions, without you needing to see a GP.
