University of Leicester Launches New Level 7 Senior Leader Apprenticeship
The LMC is sharing this with General Practice, as it might be an opportunity for someone working in General Practice wishes to consider as a leadership development opportunity.
The University of Leicester are delighted to launch a new Level 7 Senior Leader Apprenticeship fully-funded through the UK Government’s Apprenticeship Levy.
Starting on Monday 8th April 2024, this exciting opportunity provides a cost-effective route to enhance your strategic management capabilities on a flexible, part-time basis.
Designed for managers looking to develop within general management roles or aspiring to move into strategic positions, the Senior Leader Apprenticeship, involves a time commitment of 11-12 hours a week with approximately 6-7 hours of this time during paid working hours.

Upon successful completion, alongside the apprenticeship award, apprentices also gain a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) with the option to undertake a further 6-months of study to progress onto the Leicester MBA, leading to an AMBA-accredited MBA qualification.
The Senior Leader Apprenticeship is typically studied over 24 months, with apprentices studying four 6-month modules:
- Managing and Development People and Organisations
- Managing Value Creation Processes from Idea to Market
- Managing Finance and Strategic Decision-Making
- Strategic Leadership
Alongside this learning, one practical module, Evidencing Senior Leader Praxis, is undertaken throughout the duration of the programme.
